MEET THE CHEF

Ms. Cubbon has lived in the Cayman Islands for 17 years and is an active member of the local food and wine scene. She comes from a family of passionate cooks and started in the kitchen helping out at a very early age. Learning the basics from her Fijian mom - who she cites as the best cook she knows - her love for food blossomed. She has been involved in the food and beverage industry locally and in Canada for the past 25 years working with and being mentored by inspiring chefs and standout restaurants in Canada and Cayman. 

Ms. Cubbon is an award winning chef achieving first place in the Food & Wine Cayman Cookout Amateur Chef Competition in 2013 and was a finalist in 2012, cooking for the likes of Eric Ripert, Anthony Bourdain, Jose Andres and His Excellency the Governor Mr. Duncan Taylor. She was also the representing chef for the Cayman Islands at Caribbean Culinary Week in New York in June 2018.

 

She is the Culinary Director at Bestlife and currently hosts and runs cooking classes and food focused team building programs for corporate clients partnering with Bon Vivant and is the Cayman Islands Ambassador for the Jamie Oliver Food Revolution global program. As a featured speaker at the TEDx Seven Mile Beach event in April 2013, Maureen is working on sparking a Cayman Style Food Revolution with the goal to empower people, especially children, to know where their food comes and hopefully inspire everyone to get into their kitchens and cook!  

Her passion is working with youth and is a proud coach for the Youth Services Culinary Team. Maureen co-hosted the Quick & Easy Cooking Show on Daybreak for 2 years and is a board member of the Slow Food Group in Cayman which promotes growing and eating real and fresh foods while supporting the local farmers and culinary movement.

We love to inspire Budding Chefs  - join us for cooking classes at Bon Vivant Kitchen Studio, Cooking Club at school, Food Revolution Sessions, private parties, Seed2Plate Farm to Table school garden programs as part of Jamie Oliver's Global Food Revolution program.
